Welcome to Moroto Regional Referal Hospital

I take this opportunity to welcome you all to Moroto Regional Referral Hospital. It is a center of excellence and it covers the whole of karamoja region and serves some parts of kenya.We are proud and feel that we serve the people of uganda in the capacity of a regional referral hospital and its mandate as stated are promoting healthy community with vibrant lifestyle.

Moroto RRH was established in the 1940s as a lower-level health facility that was progressively upgraded until July 2009 when it became a regional referral hospital. It serves a catchment population of approximately 1.3 million people in the Karamoja sub-region in northeastern Uganda. It occasionally receives patients from neighboring Kenya. The facility has a 230-bed capacity and employs 267 staff directly hired by the hospital, with 67 percent of positions filled (420 approved positions). The hospital currently has 6 substantive specialists, 2 are yet to be appointed, making it specialist capacity to stand at 22% with anticipation to improve to 30% during the current FY (23/24). It is a training center for interns in the field of obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, and Pediatrics.
